Without starting quarterback Eric Dungey and starting running back Dontae Strickland, Syracuse (4-8, 2-6 Atlantic Coast) floundered against Boston College (7-5, 4-4), 42-14. Rex Culpepper started under center for Syracuse, and had a respectable performance, chucking 24 completions on 34 attempts for 280 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Moe Neal had a solid game in Strickland’s absence — 13 carries for 88 yards. But it was the A.J. Dillon show Saturday in the Carrier Dome. Dillon, the Eagles freshman starting tailback, rushed 23 times for 193 yards and three touchdowns, burying the Orange. Our beat writers discuss the loss and the end of Syracuse’s season.
